WHAT IS A MENTEE/MENTOR?

Mentees are the participants at Empowerment Lab, and Mentors are the role models/”counselors” that guide the mentees in activities and programming. All mentees and mentors have learning and/or attention issues.

WHO DO YOU SERVE?

Our participants range in age from middle school through high school, and all have learning and attention issues. Our mentees tend to be middle school and high school aged, while our mentors can be high school, college, and beyond.

DO YOU PROVIDE TUTORING?

Empowerment Lab does not provide any remediation or tutoring services, however, we are happy to work with families to locate these services in their area.


WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS?

Tuesday-Friday 2 PM-7 PM

Saturdays 10 AM-4 PM

Closed Sundays and Mondays


WHAT’S THE PROFILE OF AN EMPOWERMENT LAB MENTEE?

EL mentees are typically middle school or high school aged, and have a learning profile that falls within the “language based learning disability” category, or “specific learning disability” category. This might include dyslexia, ADHD, and executive function weaknesses.


CAN I BE INVOLVED WITH EMPOWERMENT LAB IF I DON’T HAVE A LEARNING DIFFERENCE?

Yes, there are many opportunities to become involved with Empowerment Lab. Some of these include: volunteering at events, interning in the office or learning what it takes to run a nonprofit. Please speak to an administrator if you are interested in becoming involved!
